The Spring classes will focus on PATTERN.  Our paintings would be chaos, unreadable and confusing without the conscious choices we make about patterns.  In this class we will talk about echoes and relationships.  We will see how different paintings use these in different ways.  The subject of the painting might determine the patterns but at the same time lead us to use totally contrasting shapes!!  We might contrast geometric shapes with organic shapes.  What fun can we have with dots, triangles and line?  We will talk about quantity, size and spacing.  This knowledge will turn our paintings from ordinary to extraordinary!!!!

Chris is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, the Northwest Watercolor society and past president of the Watercolor society of Oregon. She has taught at the Village Gallery for over20 years. Check out her website for more information and samples of her work.

Today, we are home to many Oregon artists This co-operative gallery enjoys a diverse group of artists and artisans, who create fine works of art in virtually every medium. The Gallery displays and sells new artwork on a regular basis so you will want to visit frequently to see all the new offerings. The Gallery also offers a variety of classes and workshops for all ages and abilities which change according to community interest and needs. SoulCollage® was developed by Seena Frost in California. It’s a process where one learns to make your own cards using collage technique. Access your intuition and create an incredible deck of cards with deep personal meaning that may help you with life’s questions and transitions and that can be used for inspiration, guidance, and personal readings. (see soulcollage.com for more information).

In June 2004, I trained to become a SoulCollage® facilitator and am delighted to teach this amazing process which is very complimentary to the Monday night collage classes that I have taught for years.

Friday Night introduction is from 6:30 – 9:30pm. The next day, Saturday, is an all day workshop with SoulCollage® – an opportunity for in-depth study, a day of making cards, and having time to write about and read your cards – for people attending the Friday night intro.

This on day workshop is a fun exploration of collage together with acrylic paint. It is an extension of my Monday night collage class. I have used this powerful combination of media to illustrate book covers, magazine articles and to produce fine art. Magazine images or personal photos are the starting point for a very personal expression that can be provocative, funny, beautiful, nostalgic, symbolic, as you like.

Workshop participants are exposed to a variety of techniques with acrylic paint, how to integrate collage images with paint, and how to transform images from one idea into another.

This is a creative opportunity for artists of any experience level. At least one finished piece will be created by day’s end.

This weekly class provides an opportunity to make a unique finished piece of art in one night, using primarily magazine images. Perfect for anyone who has an inner desire to be creative, but hasn’t done any art since childhood, as well as accomplished artists.

Through the years of teaching this class in my Bonny Slope studio, I’ve found each person – an artist with her individual style and voice – producing surprising results that emerge through the process designed into the class. It is Fun! Just show up, play, and a create. By the  end of the evening, you will have at least one finished collage that you can use for greeting cards, or in other creative ways.

Visit Linda’s website to see examples of her art.

Please Register by month.
