Stay Out Of My Room

Elizabeth-HigginsElizabeth Higgins

Raised in Virginia, Elizabeth is a watercolor painter who has lived in Oregon since 1995.  She maintains a home studio in Hillsboro and is on the Board of Directors for Village Gallery of Arts. She is also a member of Watercolor Society of Oregon and Oregon Society of Artists.  She paints because she loves using color and shape to tell stories.

Since 1999 she has studied and practiced many forms of art: drawing, writing, photography and book arts.  She began watercolor painting in 2011, taking classes from fellow VGA member Liz Walker at Multnomah Arts Center in Portland. Elizabeth has continued taking classes and workshops ever since, and was juried into Watercolor Society of Oregon in 2013.

Elizabeth’s art is about bright color and prominent shapes, and she is inspired to paint just about anything as long as she can use those elements to bring her subject to life. Her paintings are expressive and representational, rather than realistic. Painting is playful and joyful for Elizabeth, and these are the feelings she hopes to evoke in the people who view her work.
