Artist • Melody Cleary
Melody began taking drawing and oil painting classes as a teen at a local art center in Tigard, Oregon in the 1970s. Inspired, she continued in her spare time over the years to take various classes in the Portland area (Museum Art School, Oregon College of Arts & Crafts, and Portland Community College).
In her early years she painted only realistically, but later learned the excitement of abstraction and color and allowing a painting to evolve from within oneself. Being employed, a busy mother and wife, she took up acrylic painting because of its quick drying properties, and now also delves into watercolor and collage. Melody enjoys both worlds—realistic and abstract—and draws inspiration from her natural environment, home life, and family.
