I’ve been drawing or painting almost since I can remember. It’s just something I love. I majored for two years in what was dubbed “Drawing and Painting” at University of Oregon. Some years ago I lived briefly in Lake Oswego and took classes at Marylhurst, working with oils. I studied oil portraiture under Helen Trayle and calligraphy at Clackamas Community College. While bringing up a family of five in The Dalles I did numerous art projects for school, community, organizations and individuals. My primary interest is and has always been people. My paintings have been exhibited at The Dalles Art Center, Mid-Columbia Medical Center, Mid-Columbia Community College, and PDX airport. During that period, I studied with Jeff Stewart.
Several years ago I moved to Portland and fell in love with watercolor. I studied with Linda Aman and took workshops with Arne Westerman, Ted Nuttall, Chris Stubbs, and Ron Ranson.
I am a member of Village Gallery of Arts, Oregon Society of Artists, and Watercolor Society of Oregon, and have exhibited at all three. I like to sketch from life as well as use my own photographs as references. In my interpretations I try to transmit what I feel. I consider myself a figurative painter rather than a portraitist.
What wonderful warm people I have met through my art associations!
