LizMy paintings are about color and shape and how to best balance the two within a rectangle or square. I often start out with free form puddles of paint, and let things mix on the page. Then I stand back and evaluate what's there—sometimes making the shapes into a human form. It’s that element of chance that keeps it interesting for me and (I hope) for the viewer.

For me, paintings are a kind of waltz—a dance between the artist and the viewer, wherein each person takes a turn at leading and then following. I hope my work is a place where the imagination can truly dance like no one is watching.
