What would my life have been like without painting? It surely would have been less rich in many ways. Looking through an artist’s eyes has brought my powers of observation to a sharpness and strength that have enhanced my appreciation of all I see around me. It has brought me excitement and color, challenged me to master my strengths and weaknesses, introduced me to others on their creative paths and whom with to share mine, disciplined me, focused me and given me goals and a purpose to get up every day with anticipation.
As a painter I enjoy working in different mediums such as watercolor, gouache, acrylic, dry media and collage--sometimes using several to create a piece of work. I paint a variety of subjects in styles ranging from the non-objective (intuitively) to the realistic (deliberately), but prefer most working with some abstraction, and figurative forms. Although I work in series, I allow myself to create one-of-a-kind pieces when stimulated to do so, giving me both discipline and the freedom to be spontaneous.
