On Saturday, February 19, 2022, Webelos Scouts from Troop 726 visited the Village Gallery with their leaders. Adults accompanying the scouts included Scoutmaster Mac Gifford, and Tim and Tammy Tank, parents of Andrew, a scout Denner. Those in attendance spent time in the gallery with Lana Nelson, Sue Girard, Sue Kingzett, and Karen Trent viewing and discussing the February show, and in the classroom with Debbie Teeter learning about the gallery’s upcoming “Art Dollars for Scholars” event as well as different types of art they might want to try. These included surreal paintings created by animating simple vegetables, Cubist- inspired still-lifes, and mixed media portraits. Visiting the gallery, discussing the art, and creating self-portraits fulfill requirements for the Webelos’ “Art Explosion” Adventure.Displaying their work in a community show is an optional activity. The gallery provided the scouts with 6”X6” canvases and entry forms for our “Art Dollars for Scholars” show, and the scouts and leaders each received an Art Kit of their choice. We look forward to hanging their entries on our wall!
