BIG AND BOLD – TALISMAN 3

This painting began over a gessoed failed under painting. I had been working on a talisman series and “saw” in my mind another talisman beginning with the collaged circle in the center. Talismans appeal to me because of their magical power which brings luck and keeps away the evil spirits. I like working on a textured surface like this one which had collage under the gesso on the surface. The primary media is acrylic with the addition of metallics, ink, Caran d’Dache sticks and colored pencil. I enjoyed doing the final line work with the asemic writing and the gold rectangle around the center piece. I hope the viewers respond to the bold painting as much as I enjoyed painting it.
