Art Kits

The Village Gallery of Arts distributes free Art Kits to our community. The program began with donated materials. We are grateful for a subsequent grant and a generous donation to keep this project moving forward. Our member-designed kits are packaged in gallon-size Ziplock bags, containing the supplies necessary to complete a 2-D or 3-D project. Each kit provides projects with a suggested age range and a lesson plan with directions or creative suggestions for how to use the materials, and in most cases, a photo of what a finished project might look like. For example, our Sketchbook Kit and Fun Pack have lists of ideas for using the supplies. Our Shell Mosaic kit comes with a photo of a completed mosaic submitted by a recipient of the kit.

The kits connect our gallery’s community outreach goals with our education mission, and are designed to share the joy of making art with all ages. While we target underserved populations as recipients, we also distribute kits during events at the gallery and at community venues such as the Cedar Mill Farmer’s Market. We hope to hear from more non-profits and social service organizations in the area with clients who may benefit from our free Art Kits.
