Explore the possibilities of working with acrylic paints. This class will cover color theory, brushwork, composition, layering and working with the unique properties of acrylics. It is appropriate for students with no painting experience or those with some experience looking for ideas, structure or to improve their skills. Each session will provide a different instructional focus. All supplies included, but it is recommended that students bring an apron, a sketchbook for note-taking & ideas and their own brushes (1/2” flat or filbert recommended, 1 smaller, plus 1 smaller (#4-#6) Other cheap/found supplies will be discussed at the first class.
About the Artist: I earned a BFA and MA in Art Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Certificate in Commercial Design from the University of California, San Diego. I have been a licensed art educator in Illinois, California and Oregon. In addition to classes for adults and children at VGA, I have taught beginning through advanced high school art classes in the Forest Grove and Beaverton School Districts and art instruction methods to prospective elementary educators at the University of Portland.
