Watercolor skills for intermediate students.
In each class, we will use gradated washes and a few calligraphic marks as finishing touches to create a painting. This is a skill building class to make the watercolors work for you. In the first class we will do a landscape. The second class will be based on students’ interests.
Students should have some basic watercolor skills.
Supplies:
Watercolor paints. Please include a minimum of Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Ultramarine Blue, Red, and Yellow plus any other colors of your choice.
Brushes for watercolor: One 1” Flat and One ½” Flat
Round brushes, size 2 and size 6, or so, and any others you enjoy using
Watercolor Paper 140#, Cold Press or Rough, your choice of size. Instructor will paint on 12” x 16” size paper (roughly)
A board slightly larger than the watercolor paper is helpful. (Can be stiff cardboard wrapped in plastic wrap and taped to keep water away from it.) I use a masonite board.
Plastic palette. (An old, plastic ice cube tray works too!)
Two water containers. (I use old Yogurt containers)
Pencil and white or gum eraser.
Paper towels.
Any other favorite items that you find helpful.
