Supply List

Bring what you have! – Not oil pastels and Not colored chalk. I have some pastels I can share if you need or if you’re not sure about investing in a large set

  • Soft Pastels – You’ll want a selection of about 60 – 80 colors
  • Two sheets of pastel paper such as Canson Mi-Teintes or Fabriano Tiziano in white, ivory or light grey, and one or two sheets of artist sandpaper 12”x18” in white or ivory such as UART or Art Spectrum Colorfix
  • Drafting tape or low tack masking tape, 3/4” or 1” (natural, white or black) – please, not blue or other colored tape
  • Drawing board, Gatorboard, or 1/2” thick Foamcore – to use as drawing board, about 18”x20”
  • Nitrile or other surgical style gloves, finger cots, or barrier cream for your hands such as Gloves In A Bottle or Kerodex 51 (I prefer to wear gloves but use what you like)
  • Apron, smock or old shirt to protect your clothes from pastel dust
  • Paper towels – I like to use Viva
  • Inexpensive 1/2” to 1” watercolor brush (and optional 1/2” to 1” acrylic or oil painting bristle brush – good for brushing off pastel from your paper – an old brush is fine)
  • A few sheets of Glassine, drawing paper or other smooth paper to protect your work
  • Small container with a lid…like a small deli or yogurt container
  • Small bottle of rubbing alcohol
  • Several landscape photos that you have taken…not images from the internet or from a magazine or from a calendar.
  • Optional Table easel
