Write your thoughts beautifully! We will work with the Italic script. This is an introductory class which covers how to create letter forms in the Italic script. The goal of this class is to give you the basics so you can practice and perfect your calligraphy on your own outside of class.
If you have never held a calligraphy pen, or if you are looking for a refresher, this is an excellent opportunity to hone your skills.
The left handed are also welcome.
Supplies:
Vellum Tracing Paper 8.5 x 11, or larger, or similar. Please be sure calligraphy lines on a separate sheet beneath can be seen through a sheet of paper. (Instructor will provide guide lines.)
One piece of clear vinyl or acetate, same size as paper. (This helps protect guidelines from excess ink.)
Calligraphy felt pen(s) 2.0mm. (Note: sizes can be between 1.5 and 2.5 mm) The size of the pen nib affects the size of the letters. )
If you already have them, and prefer to use them, dip pens and ink wells or calligraphy fountain pens are also welcome.
Pencil or pen to take notes.
