March 3D Featured Artist – Jayne Dahl

Jayne Dahl, 3D Artist- Lucy Anne Smiles Designs LLC

Jayne Dahl is a jewelry artist, fine artist, and the owner of Lucy Anne Smiles Designs. She designs and creates original jewelry pieces by repurposing vintage and unique finds from around the world. She studied art in college while designing and selling jewelry and clothing. She loves to travel, and her adventures around the globe allowed her to collect beautiful fabrics, stones, beads, crystals and more. She uses these treasures in combination with vintage items, creating new and unique jewelry fashion designs and energy light catchers. Each wearable art piece is original and one of a kind, inspired by places and people she meets. Each piece has a unique story to share.

Jayne has always been interested in art, specifically painting with watercolors, and drawing with pen and ink as her medium. She stumbled into creating and designing jewelry after travelling out west with two friends in 1976, settling in Tempe, AZ. She attended Arizona State University, minored in art, and put herself through school by designing and creating jewelry, using turquoise and other traded materials with Native American artists, who she still has a strong connection with today.

Fast forward to 2015, Jayne picked up her beads and wire again after her mom, Anne passed away leaving her a sizable vintage and costume jewelry collection. Being the only girl of six children, Jayne received necklaces, bracelets, earrings, brooches, pins, and other vintage items, which she began to take apart and repurpose into new, contemporary styles.

Today, on her travels she ventures out to estate sales, vintage shops and gems shows collecting vintage jewelry, stones, beads, and other unique items to repurpose and renew. Her pieces are her own, one of a kind, unique designs, created from repurposed vintage materials. Jayne’s family basset hound, Lucy passed away the same year as Jayne’s mom, birthing her shop name “Lucy Anne Smiles Designs,” in their honor. www.facebook.com/lucyannesmiles

Her work is in the Grey Raven Gallery, The Village Gallery of Arts, Jan’s Books and annually at the La Strada Chalk Art Festival. She has exhibited at Beaverton City Hall, Beaverton Night Market, Pop-Up shops and Art Walks in Beaverton, Tigard, and Hillsboro.
