Membership News by Jean Yarger, Membership Secretary
February was a slow month for new member acquisition, but March started out with a bang! I am looking forward to introducing several new members next month! They are all so talented and excited to find an art family like VGA.
Our members are the heart of the Village Gallery of Arts! Without them the Gallery would not exist. Ayshwarya Subremanian, one of our newer members, graciously volunteered to interview and write a short article that will highlight one of our amazing members each month. Look for her first “Did You Know” article in next month’s newsletter!
If our members are the heart our volunteers are the engines that keep the Gallery growing! This month the Education Team would like to salute an all-star–Sally Boyd!

Sally was VGA’s Class Scheduler for several years, going back to when class registration was a pencil-and-paper activity at the front desk. Prior to the existence of an Education Team, Sally was the team. She guided the registration process on its journey from low-tech to Event Brite to the ticketing package on our current website. In addition to scheduling, she also managed the instructors and all the paperwork that entails as well as teaching or assisting in classes. On top of all she does for our team, she is vital to the front desk as our Square guru, fills vacancies, helps with receptions and is always ready to support VGA’s operations with a smile on her face. Her involvement helped implement the technology received through our most recent grants. That is also what makes her an ideal vice-president!
I could not coordinate the Education Team without Sally’s help. She generously lends her Zoom account to hold our monthly meetings, manages our Instructional Team Database, and back-fills the class scheduling position when needed. Did I mention that it has been a joy to work alongside her at our free drop-in events?
