October 3D Artist of the Month – Allan Wells

Allan resides in Aloha, Oregon and is a native Oregonian. He grew up in the Willamette Valley. Allan began wood turning in his first year of retirement in 2012. He is an Oregon State University graduate with a degree in Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation. Allan worked 36 years in various capacities in Parks and Recreation. Late in his career he became a Certified Arborist which strengthened his passion for trees and resource utilization. He started wood turning after inheriting his father’s lathe. Allan is a member of three wood turning groups and the American Association of Woodturners. He attends classes, live demonstrations and workshops to learn new techniques. His work has progressed from gifts for the family and friends to sales at church bazaars, Farmer’s Markets and a juried show.

Allan’s inspiration as an artist comes from what can be made from wood. All wood has a value, purpose and beauty, and he enjoys sharing it with you.
