Cheryl Carpentier

While studying Interior Design at OSU, I always enjoyed Art History classes and was especially interested in the Impressionist style – drawn to their warm, bright colors, majestic gestures, and textures. Van Gogh and Cezanne are two of my favorite artists. Always open to learning new techniques and styles, I’ve taken classes from Liz Walker at the Village Gallery of Arts, encaustic artist Kelli Williams, Ed Labadie, and Sharon Stevenson of Cowgirl at Heart.

Drawing my inspiration from Mother Nature, I’m currently fascinated with birch trees and adding my own mark to each painting. I was recently honored with a 2nd place ribbon at the Porsche Parade Art Show in Monterey, CA with my acrylic/mixed media piece, “The Blue Macan” – what a thrill!

I’m thankful that my art seems to elicit a “happy and positive” response from many viewers. Painting has brought a lot of excitement and fulfillment to my life, and I look forward to further expanding and honing my skills as an artist.
